Roger makes train travel safer
Roger 1000 is 24m long and weighs 62 ton. The train is made in Italy by Mermec and is packed with advanced equipment checking rails and overhead lines in traffic speed up to 160 km/h. The entire rail network in Norway is checked twice per year in order to detect any problems with the rails and the overhead lines.
In 2008, ViaTech installed the first camera system in Roger 1000. The system has been upgrades several times. The 2023 upgrade included high resolution, 44MP cameras. The camera system is integrated with the train control system and takes images every 10m of the rail network.
